Offer work experience to a refugee at your business

As Moving to Mars demonstrates, voluntary work and work experience placements can really help refugees adjust to their new home and contribute something positive to their new community.  If your business or organisation could offer something to a local refugee – anything from a one-off visit to a longer term placement - please contact Refugee Action or the Refugee Council.

 Students – join STAR!

STAR Student Action for Refugees is a national network of student groups, giving students the opportunity to support refugees in their university’s wider community.  STAR groups exist in universities across the UK.  To find out if your university has one, see www.star-network.org.uk

Learn more about the situation in Burma

While many people know a little about the problems in Burma, and most have heard of Aung San Suu Kyi, the democratically election Burmese leader currently under house arrest, the situation there is still under-reported in the Western media, and many large companies still support the military regime there with their investment.  To find out more about what’s going on in Burma, why ethnic minority groups like the Karen are being forced into exile, and how you can join the campaign for justice in Burma, please see www.burmacampaign.org.uk
